Brandy Pentz Photography - Photographer Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is Brandy Pentz of Brandy Pentz Photography from Illinois. Brandy grew up with a love for photography and would take photos all the time. Her husband bought her her first DSLR camera and she took off learning from there. To grow her business in the beginning she gave away a lot of free sessions to practice, gain experience and build her clientele. She does all types of photography, but newborns and families are her specialties, and she rocks at them!
Brandy’s favorite part of being a photographer is capturing special moments with families. In her words, “your babies and kids will only be little for a short time, and seeing families interact and actually have moments at their sessions with their kids to look back at forever is very special.”
You can find Brandy with her family, reading, binge watching shows on Netflix and driving to the local Starbucks for some coffee on her down time. Maybe even having a piece of her favorite dessert: cheesecake! The number one way that she markets her business is by posting on Instagram and in her stories and just trying to connect with people. She watches everyone's stories and has good success getting clients, especially newborns through Instagram!
If she could give someone just starting out some advice, it would be to practice, be safe, and don’t get discouraged. She has been doing newborn sessions for 3 years and she says she still doesn’t have it all figured out! It takes a lot of time and everyone's journey is different. She has been in business for almost 8 years and she says she is still learning and growing Every. Single. Day!!
